Communicating to Customers

Important E&O Risk Alert

It is important for customers to understand why the coverage may be excluded or why the claim does not meet coverage guidelines. Refrain from responding to questions you may not be comfortable answering and when necessary, engage with the carrier to determine the appropriate course of action. If there is any uncertainty regarding coverage for your customer(s), follow your agency guidelines for submitting claims to the carrier or have the customer submit the claim directly. It is the carrier’s role to determine whether or not coverage exists. Properly document all conversations with the customer as well as any conversations with the carrier. Please review these updated recommendations on Business Income claims.
